Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.
A student switching schools can be scary and even more scarier when you don’t have friends. I always been a loner most of life, so when I switched schools to be closer to home I thought I was doing my family and I a favor-so I was WRONG! It was a culture shock because of the demographics and felt so left out because I didn’t make any friends easily. Plus, my mom had to remove me due the discrimination and my alleged “academic failure”.
The next semester I was switched back to my regular school and felt so relieved. That experience traumatized me but I felt I’ve healed because realized prejudice is taught; there was no direct connection to me personally. Thank God I was able to go back to my roots, and don’t regret it at all.
